Control your phone or tablet using switches or the front camera. The Switch Access feature allows you to interact with your Android device using switches instead of the touchscreen. This can be especially helpful if you are unable to interact with your device directly.

To get started, follow these steps:

1. Open the Settings app on your device.
2. Select Accessibility, then choose Switch Access.

Setting Up a Switch

In order to use Switch Access, you will need to set up a switch. There are different types of switches you can choose from:

• Physical switches: These can be USB or Bluetooth switches, such as buttons or keyboards, or on-device switches like volume buttons.
• Camera switches: These involve using facial gestures such as opening your mouth, smiling, raising your eyebrows, or looking left, right, or up.

Scanning Your Device

Once you have set up a switch, you can start scanning and interacting with items on your screen. There are different scanning options available:

• Linear scanning: Allows you to move between items one at a time.
• Row-column scanning: Enables scanning one row at a time and then navigating through the items in that row.
• Point scanning: Involves selecting a specific horizontal and vertical location using moving lines and then pressing "Select".
• Group selection: Allows you to assign switches to different color groupings. Items on the screen will be assigned a color, and you can press the switch corresponding to the color around the item you want. You can narrow down the size of the group until you reach your desired choice.

Using the Menus

When you select an element, a menu will appear with various available interactions, such as select, scroll, copy, paste, and more. There is also a menu at the top of the screen that assists with device navigation. For example, you can open notifications, go to the home screen, adjust the volume, and more.

Navigating with Camera Switches

If your device has a front camera, you can use Camera Switches to navigate your phone using facial gestures. This allows you to browse or select apps on your phone. You can customize the sensitivity and duration of each gesture to suit your needs.

Recording Shortcuts

Switch Access also allows you to record touch gestures as shortcuts. These gestures can be assigned to a switch or accessed from a menu. Examples of touch gestures include pinching, zooming, scrolling, swiping, double tapping, and more. Recording these gestures allows you to perform frequent or complex actions with a single switch.
